Boerentoren - KBC Tower

The Boerentoren, or Farmers´ Tower, was the first skyscraper to be built in Europe. It was especially erected for the World Expo in Antwerp in 1930. Originally the tower was 87.5 meters high, but in the ´70s it was transformed into office space and gained 9.5 meters in height.

The name of the building refers to the farmers´ co-operative which was the main investor of the original project.
KBC, one of Belgium´s largest banks, put their logo on the top of the tower and has its offices in the building.
