MoMu Fasion museum - Nationalestraat
Fashion is really important to Antwerp which is why the province of Antwerp opened a fashion museum in September 2002. A 19th century building called Modenatie in the Nationalestraat was the perfect location.
The museum is best known as the MoMU, short for ModeMuseum, which means fashion museum in Dutch.
The collection houses clothing, lace, embroidery, fabrics and tools used in the textile industry dating back to the 16th century together with a collection of pieces by contemporary (Belgian) fashion designers.
The museum shop has a great collection of art and fashion books. If you want further and in depth information about fashion, you´ll definitely find it in the museum library.
Over 15 000 books and numerous magazine are waiting to be consulted.
