A bit more about the Theaterplein - Birdmarket
The Theaterplein is situated in front of the Stadsschouwburg (Municipal Theater). With a capacity of 2011 seats and fantastic technical facilities, the Stadsschouwburg is an ideal venue for musicals, opera, theater and ballet.
Lovers of markets should definitely visit the Theaterplein on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday you can stroll around the stalls with fruit, vegetables, cheese, fish, meat, … Apart from local products you can also buy plenty of Turkish, Moroccan and southern specialities.
The legendary Vogelmarkt (Birdmarket) is held every Sunday. Most stalls with bird and animals have been replaced by stalls with all kinds of second hand goods, antiques, flowers and jewelry.
Currently a part of the Theaterplein is being renovated and will be covered in the near future.
